Process Control Operator's Training Course

The Smart Operator™ system is suitable for training operators in the mining industry.

Designed for training in the following industries:

• Hydrocarbons and Oils
• Plastics
• Mining
• Rubber
• Power and Utilities
• Chemical
• Manufacturing
• Non-Metallic Minerals

• Three day instructor-led, hands-on training course including computer-based simulations
• Two Expert Trainers full-time for the course; one process control trainer and one computer-based simulation training developer
• A maximum of 28 participants; each will have their own computer for the duration of the course

The Process Control Operator's Training course is an interactive, instructor-led classroom based course teaching preliminary skills for process control operators.

The training includes an introduction and simulations for basic process control loops including temperature, level, flow and pressure.

The computer-based training contains a number of specific jobs to be completed with the process control system simulations, and training in the diagnosis of faults and taking corrective action to solve alarms.

The software also includes a reference that is the workbook for the course including over 100 screens of graphics and text covering system architecture, display consoles, failure modes, alarm management, and start-up and shut-down procedures.

Craig Scarfe, DipEng (Electronic)

Craig has 16 years experience in the Process Control field including field servicing and commissioning, detailed design, quality control and management, project management and training. He has commissioned many large industrial plants, the most recent being the Woodside Goodwyn A offshore gas platform facility. Craig holds a diploma in electronic engineering and is a qualified trainer.

Thomas Nielsen, B.Sc. (Hons.), PGDip (CogSci), M.Sc.

Thomas has 15 years experience in software development and computer-training system design and development with particular skills in expert system programming and the application of Cognitive Science to teaching process control operators in simulated environments.
